Though, strictly speaking, it is not a window per se, I am including this collection of images in the window advertising series found in my locality of South Melbourne. I would say that, from what I’ve seen, Victorian-era home/shop doorways always have that ‘window’ above the door. You must remember, doorways always opened straight into a very long and dark corridor, in the time of candelight and later gas lamps, which really didn’t throw out much light; hence the need for such tricks to get natural light inside.
