When dining out, I’m often challenged with items on the menu unfamiliar to me. My digestion these days is a bit delicate and I need to choose carefully. This does not stop me from trying out new foods, especially when I know that the chef is very good. The following images are a small part of the dish, a dessert that had two parts to it, on the same plate. The item I was photographing was the striped edible straw, along with the fruit, a physalis, or Chinese Lantern when encased fully before opening to reveal its fruit. Part of the tomato family it tastes just like a sweet tomato. It was an additional surprise to the very delicious baked custard in the glass.
